Album Review: Crash Induction - "The Second Coming"

Hailing from Northampton, Crash Induction are one of those keep it simple punk bands similar to Peter & The Test Tube Babies or Hung Like Hanratty who peddle a brand of no-nonsense riffed-up music with a sense of humour designed to sink a few beers to. Opener Anti-Establishment, a tale of an anarchist who suddenly finds himself promoted to a middle management post at the company he works at is a case in point and will no doubt raise a smile among older punks listening to it. Elsewhere, song titles like Pineapple On My Pizza, Delete My Browsing History and Fitbit Nitwit kind of give you an idea of the sort of subjects we're dealing with here.

What saves The Second Coming from descending into a cringefest is that at least Crash Induction are good at keeping their songs sounding tight and focused with razor sharp precise riffing, shouted vocals and tight rhythms on the likes of Jobshite, Waiting For Bono To Call and Wankbadger while Dances With Wasps shows them going into Madness style ska territory.

Yup, it isn't big, it isn't clever and it does start to repeat itself a bit towards the end but at least The Second Coming is fun. I get the impression that Crash Induction are one of those bands who are probably best appreciated at a pub gig with a few pints in your system and this album will definitely help put a smile back on your face after a crap day at work.
