Album Review: King Salami and the Cumberland Three - "Kiss My Ring"

For those unfamiliar with their work, King Salami and the Cumberland Three are probably one of British rock 'n' roll's best kept secrets. An incendiary live band who are guaranteed to get audiences up and dancing, they're also that most rare of beasts - a band who can also capture their infectious live sound on record well.

Kiss My Ring, their fourth album, is another great addition to the catalogue with catchy rhythms that'll have you up and cutting some rug before you know it. Songs like Oofty Goofty (Wild Man Of Borneo), The Jellybutt of Timbuktu and The Pulpo Dance actually manage to live up to their titles while the ferocious title track, (She Was An) Earthquake, Double Switch, Don't Make Me Mad and Bayou Fever come on like some fantastic cross between Little Richard and Screamin' Jay Hawkins as fed through a supremely tightwired '60s garage rock blender.

Honestly, if you're not familiar with this band already then you owe it to yourself to pick up this one and put some sunshine back in your life.
